Queen Kat Designs has been in the making since about 1998. Located in Northern Utah in the shadows of the Wasatch Mountains, the stamps are all lovingly handmade by Vicki in her workshop.
The first designs were released on November 19, 2006 in clear photopolymer. Queen Kat Designs has a very versatile look, with designs that are suitable for everyone's tastes. Among the designs is a line that brought to life sketches done by Vicki’s great-grandmother who was a costume designer in old classic Hollywood, while another was created by Vicki’s grandmother "SG" who is a stamper, card maker and has amazing drawing talent.
Vicki credits her grandmother, Beverly Douglas (a.k.a. Sierra Grannie or “SG”), for teaching her a love for stamping and card making. “She taught me a lot, beginning with how to properly ink a stamp to different techniques and ideas,” shares Vicki.
Vicki remembers that when she started, there were not a lot of stamp companies out there and the stamps which were available were very "cutesy-country bumpkin". She knew immediately that these were not her style and wanted something more cute/fun rather than country.
In May 2010, Queen Kat Designs made the switch from clear stamps to laser etched rubber. The un-mounted rubber stamps have a lot more detail and can be used with more techniques with ease. New designs are released on the first Wednesday of the month.
