Classic wood-mounted rubber stamps provide superior stamping and a luscious stamping experience. The rubber holds and transfers ink better than clear stamps. The foam mounting transfers pressure evenly so that the stamp image forms completely. A wooden handle is printed with a picture of the stamp (called an index.) The wooden art stamp experience is the best of the best.
I don't have this particular stamp but I have other detailed stamps that do not make clear impressions. Try using a well-inked brayer over the image and then stamp it. Also, I usually stamp 2 or 3 times on scrap paper before stamping on my project, re-inking each time. Good luck.
I bought this stamp for my Christmas cards. I was very disappointed when I went to use it though - it stamps up very faintly and not at all in places - very frustrating! I think you'd really have to ink it WELL and press HARD to get a good impression from this. It's too bad because it is such a beautiful scene!
Very faint design but has potential with the right medium.
I looked forward to getting this stamp and love the image, but it just is not clear when stamped and hard to make out its detail. I have tried numerous types of ink. Is there any advice on colors or specific inks that would enhance this stamp?
I like the old fashion look of this stamp. I really love the buildings most of all. It could even be used for just that without the people if you inked it up that way. Then you could use it for more than Christmas. It would be nice with victorian wording style for Christmas cards. It reminds me so much of the buildings in York.
