Classic wood-mounted rubber stamps provide superior stamping and a luscious stamping experience. The rubber holds and transfers ink better than clear stamps. The foam mounting transfers pressure evenly so that the stamp image forms completely. A wooden handle is printed with a picture of the stamp (called an index.) The wooden art stamp experience is the best of the best.
My mother actually asked me to buy this stamp when we were shopping together one day. The owner of our local shop had made several gorgeous samples. Once I used it, it quickly became a favorite.
I have used this stamp for many of my cards, I love using a bird on my cards and this one is so very simple and elegant. I have used many types of media to create the sentiment that I want to convey, somber in black or brown; and festive in embossed or water colored pencils. I have used in with an Asian theme layout.
This stamp is a beautiful introduction to Spring! I can't wait to try different techniques, from chalk ink on soft backgrounds to dye ink on alcohol ink backgrounds. The combinations are endless.
This little bird looks like the "noisy" little bird in my Dad's yard that he loves so much. A card for him certainly. And I'm sure it will sneak onto the top of a page or two in my scrapbook, journal, and garden journal. It would also work well on spring note cards.
Penny Black's brush stroke images lend themseles to water color effects by using a Dee Gruenig technique of coloring with water based markers directly on the rubber and then spritzing lightly before stamping. Each Penny Black Brush Stroke image will look like they were water colored, be similar and beautiful but one of a kind. My neice is getting married in September and I want to make small booklets with a picture of my neice and her fiance inside and a different brush stroke image of a bird on the front of each one. I am choosing this bird "Bird Song" because it is a happy affair and I think it will make the 200+ guests smile and be happy that they can each take a book home.
